Scripted Interview

My research explores the effects of parental substance abuse on a child’s behavior and academic performance in school. However, addiction can affect a child in a multitude of ways. For my interview, I chose a previously conducted interview based on Tori Brinkman, a 14-year-old girl who lived with a mother addicted to heroin for the first 10 years of her life. I chose this interview because it truly captured just how difficult a child’s life can be when their parents have a substance abuse disorder. Tori’s composure and maturity throughout the interview are remarkable, primarily due to the fact that she has been independent for so long. After gaining some insight as to what life has been life for Tori, I was able to record these responses to further my research.
